“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents… and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.” Hebrews 11:23 (ESV)

“A woman has pain in childbirth because her time has come. But when she brings forth her child, she forgets her anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.” John 16:21 (NIV)

Day 3: The Jochebed Anointing

Birthing Through Chaos

In the message, we explore the life of Jochebed, the mother of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. Her name significantly means “the glory of God,” and her life serves as a blueprint for what is called the “Jochebed anointing”—a specific “birthing anointing” for the last days of the church.

Jochebed lived in a time of extreme crisis. Pharaoh had ordered that all newborn Hebrew males be thrown into the Nile, which the message describes as a “crocodile-infested river”. Yet, through a “brilliant plan” and unshakable faith, Jochebed birthed and preserved the leaders who would change history:

  • Moses: The deliverer.
  • Aaron: The high priest.
  • Miriam: The anointed prophetess and gifted musician.

The “labor pains” we see in the world today—earthquakes, disasters, and social chaos—are not just signs of destruction, but signs that God is trying to birth something significant. The enemy is “on the job,” trying to destroy these spiritual “births” through resistance and warfare. However, the purpose of this anointing is to bring forth a new level of deliverance, intercession, and prophetic worship that will ultimately bring glory to the Lord.

“The Jochebed anointing describes a time of birthing in the last days of the church.” ~ Jane Hammond

“Did you think the enemy was going to allow us just to waltz in without a fight… the enemy stays on the job and he’s going to try to kill everything that’s going to promote the Kingdom of God.” ~ Charlie Walker

If we apply a technical mindset to this spiritual concept, we see that “birthing” requires a willingness to endure pain for a future result. It requires laying down specific “iniquity drives”—the desire to control, the need for praise, and the stinking attitudes of pride—so that the Holy Spirit can “break open within us”.

  • Ask yourself: What “crocodile-infested waters” are currently threatening the things God has placed in my heart?
  • Action Step: Identify one area where you have felt intense resistance or “warfare.” Instead of seeing it as a sign of failure, view it as a labor pain indicating that something for the glory of God is about to be birthed.

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the revelation of the Jochebed anointing. We recognize that we are living in a season of extreme crisis, surrounded by “crocodile-infested waters” that seek to destroy what You are doing.

Lord, give us the “unshakable faith” and the “brilliant plans” required to protect the spiritual seeds You have planted within us. We refuse to be afraid of the “king’s edict” or the shaking of this world, knowing that You are the Sovereign Ruler over every storm.

We choose to view our current “resistance and warfare” not as signs of defeat, but as the very labor pains indicating that something significant for Your glory is about to be birthed. We surrender our “iniquity drives”—our pride, our stinking attitudes, and our desperate need for control or human praise.

Break open the waters of Your Holy Spirit within us. Bring forth the deliverer, the priest, and the prophetic voice in this generation. Let everything birthed in this season be dedicated solely to Your honor and the advancement of Your Kingdom.

Strengthen us to endure the anguish of the birth, looking forward with joy to the manifestation of Your glory.

In the name of Jesus Christ, the Glory of God, Amen.
