“And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Daniel 11:32

“Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.” 1 Kings 19:18

Day 3: Joining the Remnant Company

Throughout scriptural history, God has always preserved a specific group of people for Himself: a remnant. In the structural architecture of the global body of believers, Charlie Walker describes the remnant as the “church within the church”. These are not casual spectators or lukewarm observers. They are the fired-up ones, the overcomers, and the individuals who mean absolute business when it comes to their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Being part of this company is not a matter of selective favoritism or exclusive spiritual pedigree ; rather, it is a personal, definitive choice. It belongs to anyone who looks at the surrounding cultural apostasy and says, “I refuse to let my faith grow cold”. The defining marker of these remnant believers is that they are deeply, wildly, and unapologetically in love with Jesus. As the legendary nineteenth-century South African pastor and author Andrew Murray observed regarding spiritual devotion:

“God is ready to assume full responsibility for the life wholly yielded to Him.”

When we move past superficial religion, our prayers undergo a radical paradigm shift. We stop focusing merely on our comfort, our reputation, or our public standing, and we begin to cry out for a total rewiring of our inner desires. We begin to long for Jesus to be the absolute center of our thoughts and the singular passion of our lives. The remnant doesn’t care about building an earthly platform or an impressive name; they desire only to be known in heaven as someone who genuinely loved the Lamb.

The early twentieth-century missionary martyr Jim Elliot beautifully captured this intense, singular focus when he wrote:

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

When you commit to knowing your God intimately, you develop an unbreakable spiritual backbone. The furnace of life’s afflictions no longer destroys you; instead, it steels you and purifies you to carry out heaven’s assignments. You step into the shoes of the warrior saints who went before you, empowered by the Spirit to stand strong and do great exploits in a compromised world.

Daily Challenge

Take an honest inventory of your current spiritual temperature today. Are you acting like a bystander in the pews, or are you actively engaged as a player on the stage of God’s narrative? Write out a bold prayer in your journal, explicitly asking the Holy Spirit to “rewire” your heart today, delivering you from a cold or casual faith and making you madly in love with Jesus.

O Lord God of the Covenant,

You are the Holy One who searches the hearts and tests the minds of all men. I acknowledge today that You are gathering a faithful company in these last days—a remnant people who refuse to bow their knees to the idols of cultural compromise or be corrupted by the flatteries of this world. Lord, look upon my life today. I declare with my whole heart that I do not want to be a mere bystander or a casual consumer of religion. I choose to be part of Your remnant company.

Holy Spirit, I ask that You radically shift my focus away from myself, my own reputation, and my personal ambitions. I hand You the keys to my inner man and ask for a total spiritual rewiring. Ignite a fire in my soul that cannot be quenched. Make me so madly in love with Jesus that He is the first thought on my mind in the morning, the anchor of my decisions throughout the day, and my final meditation in the night seasons. Let the ultimate legacy of my life simply be that I loved Jesus with everything I had.

Strengthen my inner being to withstand the furnace of affliction and use every trial to steel my backbone for Your glory. Deliver me from the fear of standing out or being labeled a fool for Christ. Anchor me deeply in the knowledge of who You are, so that I may walk in true spiritual maturity, shine brightly in the midst of a crooked generation, and boldly execute the exploits You have prepared for me. I belong to You, and I am fiercely committed to Your truth.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
